Protecting Your Credit
Protect your credit rating!
The best way to build and protect your credit is to pay your bills on time. BYU reports the following transactions to credit reporting agencies:
- Short Term Loans
- Long Term Institutional Loans (primarily Law School and Business School graduate loans)
- All past due accounts which have been referred to collection agencies
If you believe that BYU has incorrectly reported your credit, please contact Bill Welsh, Collection Manager at 801-422-6762 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
How to obtain a copy of your credit report
You can obtain a free copy of your own credit report at annualcreditreport.com. You can also get additional information regarding personal credit reports directly from the Federal Trade Commission here.
