Non-BYU Dependent Benefits

Students who are dependents of a mission president, a general authority, or an employee of BYU-Idaho or BYU-Hawaii are entitled to certain benefits, primarily tuition. Specific requirements and verification contacts for each group are identified below.

Mission President Dependent Benefit

Eligibility Criteria

  • Single
  • <26 years old
  • Undergraduate only
  • Under 152 credit hours
  • GOOD or WARN Academic standing

Who to contact

Email maren_shaw@byu.edu with your name and student ID, your father’s name, the mission he is serving in, and when he was called.

General Authority Dependent Benefit

Eligibility Criteria

  • Child of General Authority (No benefit for spouse of dependent)
  • <26 years old
  • Undergraduate only
  • Under 152 credit hours
  • Any Academic Standing

Who to contact

Email maren_shaw@byu.edu to advise our office that you are a dependent of a general authority.

BYU-Idaho Benefit

Eligibility Criteria

  • Dependent of BYU-Idaho Employee

Who to contact

Email the benefits office at BYUI (benefits@byui.edu.) They will verify the benefit and then email our Student Account Specialist at BYU.

BYU-Hawaii Benefit

Eligibility Criteria

  • Dependent of BYU-Hawaii Employee

Who to contact

Email Noemi Paddock (noemi.paddock@byuh.edu) and/or Jeannie Soliai (eugenia.soliai@byuh.edu). They will verify the benefit and then email our Student Account Specialist at BYU.
